Going live

Work through this list once your chatbot is configured. It takes about an hour and catches the problems your customers would otherwise find for you.

Before you install

  • The Domain on the chatbot matches the hostname the widget will run on
  • The chatbot is set to active
  • A product feed is imported per language, and the product count matches your catalog
  • The site description and AI expertise are filled in, because answers are only as specific as those fields
  • Bot name, avatar, and color match your brand
  • A contact page or contact email is set, so handoffs have somewhere to go
  • Written answers exist for every language you serve

Test with real questions

Ask at least ten questions a customer would really ask:

  • A product search you know has a good match
  • A product search with no good match, to check the bot says so instead of inventing one
  • A question about delivery, returns, or payment
  • A question in each language you support
  • “Can I talk to someone?”, to check the handoff answer
  • An angry or frustrated message
  • A question that has nothing to do with your shop

Check that every product the bot shows opens the right page.

Install and verify

  • The snippet is pasted once, in a template that runs on every page
  • The bubble appears on desktop and on a real phone
  • The widget does not cover your cookie banner or cart button
  • The first answer arrives within a few seconds
  • The conversation appears in your chat logs afterwards
  • Your privacy policy mentions the chat assistant

First week

  • Read the conversations, not only the metrics
  • Fix bad answers at the source: feed data, site description, or a written answer
  • Check the failed logs for rejected requests
  • Compare your usage against your monthly message limit

First month

  • Compare the products the bot shows against what actually sells
  • Rewrite the greeting if few visitors open the chat
  • Re-import the feed after every price change, promotion, and range update
  • Change one thing at a time, so you can tell what worked
